William H. Mosby was a professor of art at the Academy of Art in Chicago, a painter, and illustrator.

His palette was passed on to by two instructors. The first time this palette was given to me was when I first learned to paint with oils at the American Academy of Art with Ted Smuskiewicz. And just recently my instructor, George Sotos, at the Drawing Workshop passed on this palette after learning that I started this blog.
